Why It Matters

Thoughts By Karen Eriksson-Lee

7/3/26

Today I watched a movie called I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story.

It is a movie that should be required watching for everyone who works with children. Teachers, counselors, doctors, nurses, social workers, principals, law enforcement, pastors, youth leaders, and the list could go on.

This movie matters because it shows the ignorance and lack of caring by some for the most vulnerable among us, our children. It also shows the power of love that can change a child's life forever.

I don't want to give the story away, as you truly need to experience it for yourself, but know that it brought me to tears for the abandoned child that Regina was, the overcomer this young woman became, and the bond between a counselor and a child that never gave up or lost hope in each other and their circumstances.

If you want a life-changing experience, then you need to watch this true story of Regina Louise. It's a Lifetime Movie, and you can watch it for free on the ROKU Channel...just make sure you have a box of tissues beside you!
